What is The Arvest opportunity Fund?
Improving the Financial Health of our Customers & Communities
The Arvest Opportunity Fund is committed to investing in people through finance and education. This fund is a wholly owned non-bank subsidiary of Arvest Bank that provides lending products to applicants who fall just below the bank’s credit requirements and are thus unable to access traditional banking products and services. This includes business loans and lines of credit, gap financing for reimbursable grants and a mortgage product, the Arvest Homebuyer Advantage.
As part of their loan agreements, Arvest Opportunity Fund loan recipients agree to participate in a financial education program. The program is designed to improve the financial standing of customers to the point where they meet traditional bank standards and have access to all the products and services Arvest Bank offers.
The most common reasons applicants may not meet bank requirements include insufficient credit score, thin credit file or cash flow challenges. With those reasons in mind, the Arvest Opportunity Fund's financial education emphasis includes:
- Budgeting
- Improving credit and recordkeeping
- The importance of establishing a savings plan
- Goal setting
- And more
We believe Arvest Opportunity Fund loans may improve the financial health of our customers and communities and can make them less dependent on other high-cost financial services. In addition to being the right way to do business, Arvest believes these efforts are crucial to the economic health, stability and security of the communities we serve.
Additionally, the Arvest Opportunity Fund is a certified Community Development Entity, allowing us to apply for New Market Tax Credits, which help attract private capital to economically distressed communities.
